    I'm a Professional Pastry Chef and recent recent transplant to Naples, FL from Northern Virginia/Washington, DC area.  Have enjoyed the forums and look forward to participating.  I'm happy today, just picked-up about 28 kilos of various Valrhona Chocolate Feves for holiday candy making.

    Hello flpez, and thank you for the introduction. I have a brother who's lived in Naples for many years and am rather familiar with the area. There are definitely some wonderful meals to be had there! Oh, the seafood, and yes, gorgeous desserts to tempt and delight. 

    I hope you'll find many reasons to enjoy being part of this community. Besides the opportunity to interact and share ideas with peers from around the world, you can meet some people you may never have had a chance to bump into otherwise: home cooks from small towns in Europe or South America (or Wisconsin, for that matter :D); people whose "restaurant" is a street stand in Asia; culinary instructors with decades of experience- for starters. Have a look at the excellent articles in the Chef Talk side of the site for some great ideas on a wide range of food topics. Look in on the photo galleries, which include some stunning examples of pastry art. We hope you'll add you images to the site as well.

    Everyone has a story as to how s/he got into cooking. What's yours? Was there a family member or mentor who inspired you? Or did you find yourself in the kitchen by surprise?
