    Hello, everyone!

I am a new Culinary Arts student and this is a very exciting time in my life. At 24, I have decided to take this leap after pursuing more "profitable" majors that left me feeling lost and wanting more. A part of me has always wanted to pursue this path, but somehow my overly-critical mind and lack of self-confidence stopped me short. I feared not being good enough, which is a mistake none of us can afford to make.

After my mother died , I realized that preparing and sharing meals with her in her last days were the best memories I have in an otherwise dark time. Losing a loved one makes you realize that life is too-short to second guess yourself all the time. Eventually, you just have to trust your gut and go for it. It may seem naive, sentimental or arrogant to say so, but I know I will succeed. I welcome nay-sayers... and will thoroughly enjoy proving you wrong. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/thumb.gif

So here I am. Glad to be here and hope to get to know some of you!

    Hello Alois

I doubt that ANYONE on this site will try to gain-say you!

Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting, or start your own in the relevant forum.  We also have a specific forum foe culinary students, where you may get a lot of help.

Please note, though, that the professional fora are read-only for those not currently employed in a culinary trade (although they make very interesting reading for those of us who are not in that bracket!)

Wow, never thought I'd find someone from the boonies! Thanks for the welcome.

Have you heard about Burlington County College's new Culinary Arts program? They are running the program in Historic Mt. Holly, right on High Street. The cool thing about BCC is that they have a transfer agreement with Drexel University. Drexel has both a Culinary Arts and a Culinary Science program. I'm also interested in learning more about there Culinary Arts/MBA accelerated program, as well as, their Master of Culinary Science degree. It's really just about exploring all my options at the moment. I'm also looking at The New England Culinary Institute.
