Hello everyone I am an at home cook.  I have no formal training other than from the best kitchen in the world, that of Joseph and Marie Bocchicchio, which happen to my Pop and Nana.  They were amazing cooks and taught me the meaning of fresh ingredients, good food and lots of it.  I am always looking for new ideas and recipes.  I am excited for this forum.

Welcome.

I know there are lots of Portugese and Spanish residents in Jersey - and I've eaten a lot of their food.

Are you perhaps from the USA's NEW Jersey?  Not an area I know much about.

My guess is that you are not from the Ironbound, the Portugese and Spanish hub of food in New Jersey, but rather from a more Italian area, perhaps from the more northern part of New Jersey?

No, I'm from Scotland in the UK!

The 'real' Jersey, is the Island of J, part of the British Channel Islands - where there are lots and lots of Portugese and Spanish who service the holiday homes, hotels, B&Bs and restaurants.  Whilst there is a very French feel to the CIs (after all, they are nearer France than the UK mainland!), there are great Portugese and Spanish.  BTW, it was the only area of Britain that was occupied by the Germans in WWII - and there are some great books written about that period.
