    Hi everyone

I joined Cheftalk forum several days ago.

I am a mother of two chldren and used to be a nurse. I live in Greece and I like cooking, not just to eat but to enjoy food and serve it in a way so it will look attractive to my 'monkeys' .

    :)

Baking pies is my biggest passion and I hope I will have the chance to learn more about food here.

    Thank you,

    Souvlaki

Welcome to Cheftalk, Souvlaki. Our membership is wide both in terms of geography and culinary experience. I'm in the Very Enthusiastic Amatuer camp!

I love Greece and the Greek islands. I lived in Cyprus for a few years when I was a child and continue to visit my favourite islands like Crete and Corfu. In fact we love it so much that my daughter married her English fiancée on Corfu at the end of May.

ThEre are a couple of people on here of Greek ackground including the Site,s owner.

Feel free to join in on threads you find interesting or start your own in the relevant forum. The three professional fora are read-only for those of us who don't worl in a culinary trade, butmake interesting reading!

    Welcome Aboard Souvlaki,

Thanks for your delicious Fig Spoon Sweets recipe.

Truly appreciate your knowledge of  my favorite 2nd cuisine which I had the opportunity to learn about when I lived on several of the islands and Thessalonikki Port City in the early to mid 1990s.

    Best Regards,

    Ciao, Margaux.

Let me add my welcome, Souvlakia!

We had Greek neighbors when I grew up; my mother lived many years in a Greek neighborhood. Greek food was often on our table and part of our celebrations, although our own heritage is Eastern European Jewish. Who doesn't love spanakotiropitakia and baklava? I visited Greece for a month some years ago, but the closest I came to your region was Thasos and Thessaloniki. Of course, I'd love to go back. Besides a quick visit to Athens while on a cruise ship, I have yet to return; it's been too long.

We hope you'll find yourself "at home" here and will take part often. Welcome!

    Thank you so much Mezzaluna

It must have been a noisy neighborhood lol, :) Greek cuisine is good, but i enjoy cooking dishes from all around the world, so I am hoping we will exchange recipes and experiences in the future,

    :) Sincerely

    Souvlaki

She is married to a Cypriot.

I would love to have your recipe for rose petal marmalade. I use it alot , I really enjoy using rose products in my cooking. It's kind of a signature mark ......

There is a family owned restaurant not far from my house, the owners treat us like family, that is the feeling you get with Greek culture, warm and fuzzy, a good feeling.

The island and Greece is stunning....much like Italy, well Europe in general is beautiful.

    Thank you,

Look forward to seeing you around the boards.

    Hi Petals,

of course I am going to give you the recipe. I am going to type it later because the recipe needs to be translated to English. It is a certain type of roses that can be cooked as a marmalade, so give me some time to make my research.

    Have a nice day

    Good Morning Souvlaki,

    Rose Marmalade sound fascinating.

I would love to play in the kitch with this recipe too, especially since Christmas is only 3 months away as of September 1st.

Look forward to your research & recipe.

    Kindest regards,

    Marge.
