    Hi Adam,

Welcome to Chef Talk. Ambitions are great to have, and this community is one way to help you meet your goal of moving on to a career in the culinary world. We have a great contingent of baking and pastry people here, many are veterans and some are instructors in schools. You'd do well to start by doing some reading here in the Culinary Students and Schools forum, including some searches into topics that interest you in those categories. We've been here more than a dozen years, so many of your questions may have been brought up in the past. Just be aware of the dates of those older posts!

Also, don't miss the Professional forums, but take note: you aren't yet a pro so you can't post there. But home cooks like me, and aspiring chefs like you can get a lot out of reading and searching there! It's a gold mine, let me assure you. Besides the forums we have excellent articles in the main Chef Talk site, so don't miss that trove either.

If you have questions, do post them in the General forums. The professionals will answer them there. We have excellent moderators to make sure questions get answered by people who know what they're talking about. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif

Finally, if it's baking and pastry you're interested in, don't miss the galleries! People have posted beautiful, inspiring work there.

We hope you enjoy Chef Talk and become part of the community. Welcome!
