    Cook At Home
Hello BrennaK, and welcome to Chef Talk. I'm a home cook too, and I've learned a great deal by being part of this community. I see you're already diving into the discussion boards, but don't miss the cooking articles, wikis, photo gallery and more. We have Steve Raichlen, the grilling expert, as a special guest May 26-29. You can post questions and comments for Steve in the special guest forum created for him. Just click on the note at the top of every page.

What ethnic foods do you like to cook? I also like to do that, as my mom did when I was growing up. It's a great way to get exposed to different flavors and ways of cooking. Do you have any other particular culinary interests?

In reponse to your thoughts on your label, you chose just right: "home cook".  The professionals are, understandably, have pride in their status of "chef", as it reflects their training and experience in the business of cooking. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/chef.gif

I hope we see you and hear from you often.

    Welcome!

well, I grew up eating generic american food (no offence, but like waffles, hashbrowns, southern style green beans, etc), but I also grew up eating a lot of albanian food and some native foods ( I live in alaska). I like different kings of asian foods, ie chinese food, thai food, pakistani/indian food, and middle-eastern and north african food like moroccan food, algerian food, lebanese food, etc.

also, right now I'm getting into slow cooking, and baking more food, etc. trying to find ingenious ways to make food last longer as we now have LESS money for food.

anyways, thats where I'm at. thanx.

Brenna, I know we have other Alaskans here. I hope you'll add your experiences with native foods and Albanian foods to other discussions here. Those cuisines are unusual in our community, and your insights will "season" the discussions. (Ooh, bad pun! /img/vbsmilies/smilies/lol.gif)
