Greetings from a Newb

Hi everyone!

I've perused these forums before, but just joined as now I feel as though I will have some ideas, and thoughts worthy of contributing. 

I've just been hired by Disney World, in Food and Beverage, in one of the parks and I have to tell you, I am thrilled.  I have been wanting to do this since just about High School and that was in the 1980's folks, but never had the time or the courage to pick up the mantle.  Now, exactly what I will be doing, I'm not entirely positive, however I will be stressing to the Chefs and Managers that I am a willing victim for them to teach.  At the age of 44, I must say that I have never been as enthusiastic about starting a job as I am this one.  Even my Hubby says that he hasn't seen me this happy in a long, long time. 

Disney has a long history of taking people like myself and giving them education, and turning them into exceptional Chefs.  I don't know if I will ever get to that point, but I hope to be given that chance. 

I have no illusions, and neither does my family, that from this point on, I will not have much of a home life.

Gosh, you are really going to change your life by taking on this new careeer!  I wish you well with it.  We have a culinary student forum on the site, be sure to have a look at it, as there is a lot of good advice for new cooks/chefs/food industry careers.

Our membership is from around the world and all levels of culinary ability, so you will have lots in common with lots of people.  The wikis, blogs, reviews, photographs and articles on here are all well-worth studying, both for inspiration and education.  Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting, or post your own in the relevant forum.
