David just stumbled across this site in the newest Saveur . It's "foodtimeline.com" But it's much more than yet another timeline listing foods as they occur throughout history. Most foods have clickable links that take you to an essay giving the historical, cultural, and/or scientific background of the food. Apparently it's a collection of web sites from sources as diverse as The Cambridge World History of Food to The Potato Association of America put together by a librarian. Take a look :D

A friend who used to work at Saveur as an intern said they use it there all the time. That's one reason why it's in the Saveur 100 this year.

I love both these sites. They are a great starting point for studying up on different aspects of food. I find that they also can eat away a good amount of my time, if I am not careful!!!!:D :D :D I read one link and that gets me thinking about other things, so I start looking up info on those things, which in turn, leads to other things, and before I know it, it is 2am and I have to be up in 3 hours!!!
