    At home cook
    Hello Everyone,

My girlfriend loves to cook and always is dropping the idea that would she would love to be adding fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, and ect. Problem is we currently living downtown Denver in a an apartment. I was thinking maybe I could get her some plants to add next to the window? The inside window ledge is about 40 inches in length and 5 inches deep. It tends to get some good sun later in the afternoon for about 4 hours. I haven't a clue about types of plants and their needed environment conditions or if this idea is even feasible with ANY plant. Could someone recommend me different ideas of plants that she would enjoy to cook with that could fit inside this window?

    Thanks /img/vbsmilies/smilies/thumb.gif

    hi 11wow11,

i live on the other side of the state from you but colorado winters are colorado winters. it's hard to keep plants next to the window alive, even if it's a sunny spot(unless you have a solarium)...it's just not a long enough day and when the temperature drops,as you know, it drops!. herbs are particularly difficult because of their fragileness. what i would recommend as a starter herb is a rosemary plant as they are hardier. around the holidays the grocery stores sell rosemary plants that have been shaped into little christmas trees. i buy one every year and travel with it. they are beautiful, smell wonderful, easy to maintain and will add much joy to your food......try fresh rosemary and fruit sometime...you'd be surprised...

btw, you are a nice boyfriend
