Getting started

    Went for a short walk on this lovely spring day.  Stopped at a nearby garden center, picked up a greek oregano plant to go with the basil I got yesterday.  Still haven't decided on the tomato and pepper varieties I'll be growing this season, but it does feel good to at be getting something started.  And herbs are always "ripe"

    What is this "Spring" you speak of?    I want to plant an herb garden for myself this year.  Parsley, basil, oregano, thyme, sage and chives for starters.

    22 degrees today, low tonight of 13... way to early to plan anything. Mid April I will get tomatoes and peppers started in my kitchen bay window that faces south.

    I volunteered to assist with some hoop houses at the community garden around the corner.  The weather here in Salt Lake is getting nice enough we decided to remove the plastic thursday.  Hopefully no devasting frosts in the near future.  Here's what they look like as of today.


    The "empty" half of this one actually has seeds planted for round 2, the veggies that were there have all been harvested already.


    Next year I'll volunteer again, but will claim a small plot for myself, which I did not do this winter.
