just saw how the power saver feature turns off scale at "about one minute."

do i need one with a longer time before shut down?

Generally you shouldn't, JP. The automatic shut off works based on the elapsed time since the last activity. As long as you continue to use it, shouldn't be a problem.

For instance, let's say you tare it out using a stainless bowl. The elapsed time starts then. Then you reach for the ingredients; let's say flour. Pour in the flour, and the elapsed time resets to when the flour was weighed. Etc.
