Fried leeks stick to my teeth

    I recently made a batch of fried leeks to use as a garnish and my wife commented that they are unpleasant to eat because they stick to your teeth and get all gummed up in your molars. I suspect it is the nature of them to do this but I wondered if anyone has a way of getting around this? Thanks in advance.
