I listened to an interesting radio show on public radio yesterday that I thought some of you might be interested in. It was a segment on Studio 360 about an artist from San Francisco named Wayne Thiebaud. He paints wonderful pictures of cakes, pies, pastries, ice cream cones, etc. some of you may be familiar with the book Chez Panisse Desserts by Linsey Shere. Wayne Thiebaud painted the cover art. I was fortunate to see an exhibition of his work at the SF Museun of Modern Art about 12 years ago. It's fantastic! Beautiful use of color , paint and brushwork! His San Francisco landscapes are really neat too. Check out the radio segment at. Go to the archives and punch up the show from May 5. There is also an interview with Calvin Trillin about monkfish. His description is hilarious! :D
