My father like this in his coffee but can it be used instead of milk
My mom always had a couple of cans in the pantry and I grew up cooking with it .
Can be a sub for milk
Sometimes I water it down a bit (cream gravy) sometimes not (scalloped potatoes).
On the ingredient list of lots of recipes...
Evaporated milk is is milk with about 50% of water removed. Use same as regular milk in Cooking or Baking . To drink it add a bit of water if you feel it is too thick on your tongue.
