I have chickens so when I "boil" an egg it is really fresh. Tried all the additives to the water and cooking methods. FINALLY found something that REALLY works. Do not boil the eggs ~ steam them. Put eggs in a steamer basket with water just to bottom of basket. Bring to a gentle boil then turn down heat to where it is just steaming. I don't like over cooked food so I turn them over with tongs at about 10 ~ 12 min. Total cook time for hard "boiled" about 20 min. Pour off hot water and add cold water let sit till temp. is cool enough to handle. Works everytime no matter the age of the egg.
