Hi! For years, I used to bake this cookie with glaze baked from a recipe that I found in a Gourmet Magazine feature on Dutch cookies published sometime around December 1990 (give or take 2 Decembers). I lost the recipe card and can't find it online. Either it predates Gourmet magazine archiving or wasn't archived. I believe it was called "vanille batons," although that name yields nothing in an online search. It was a sugar/ shortbread like cookie base and then you baked a light glaze onto it. If I recall, the story said that making this cookie was often part of the Culinary Institute's student exams. Does anyone have a recipe for this or a similar cookie? Thank you!
