I want to make thinly sliced, crispy onions to put on a garlic and oil pasta. :) But I don't want to fry them. (Yes, we're on sort of a diet :( ). Could I put them on a cookie sheet in the oven? If so, how long and at what temp?

Hi Phoebe,

Your best bet is to first slice your onions and air dry them on a rack for 24+ hours. Then place them in a very low oven 200 degrees on a fine rack over a cookie sheet and slowly dry them.

This is the way I dry onions for Bialyies

Thanks CC!

I'm going to try this next week.

I know it's difficult to say, but about how long does it typically take to dry them in the oven stage?
