Cooking is all encompassing. Baking is a subset of cooking. An enclosed dry heat method, mostly by conduction via hot air. A little by radiation and by convexion. In modern terms, especially for home cooks, roasting is done the same way but is a term carried over from live fire cooking.
Thank you for that explanation I have never heard of that before. Most interesting. I had thought that cooking was to do with cooking savoury dishes where as baking was to do with baking cakes and biscuits more dessert type things or sweet dishes. I am probably wrong here.
