Looking to see if anyone has ever used coffee - the dry kind in a recipe. I stumbled across a small coffee manufacturer in Minnesota that makes Coffe rubs for meat and wondered if any chef would ever think of using such a product. I have yet to try the samples I got from them, but the smell of the rubs is permiating my office.

If I'm not mistaken, we use the very same products. So far, we've used it on duck, venison, beef tenderloin and chicken with good results.

I've used coffee rubbs on steaks and chicken, and then grill them it seems to intensify the grill flavor. Normally i mix my own spices in with the rub of course like cumin, chili powder, garlic etc... :D
