So those of you either professionals or enthusiasts, how do you keep from enjoying your cooking a little too much and getting fat?

It's a little late for me to avoid getting fat (25 years old with a metabolism three times slower than the norm + having to stay around the house most of the time due to medical problems = bad combo for weight), but I have found that I've lost weight since I started cooking seriously a few weeks ago.  It could be because I try to cook healthy*, filling meals that don't require large portions.  They also don't leave much room for a big dessert.  It could also be because I insist on cooking from scratch, which means that I'm often literally running around the kitchen to prepare various things and complete various tasks.  Either way, it's working!

When you cook, you control the ingredients , when you eat already made or outside the home you don't.
