Chilli anyone?

    What the heck is Merkin oil? As a Brit, I had always understood "merkin" to mean "an artificial covering of hair for the pubic area". Yep, that's the dictionary definition. Please enlighten me.

    What I have found locally is Chili Morita. These are smoked jalapeno peppers that have a very intense smoke flavor along with heat. At the local Mexican supermarket, they are usually about $6 a pound. For reasons unknown, most of the chipolte is only available canned in sauce.

    Very interesting about the hair. Merken is a smoked chili mixture from, of all places, Chile. I have found the Merken oil to have a far superior flavor to the powdered version, at least the powdered version I've tried. Absolutely fabulous for making omelets, and then just toss that on a croissant and see what that does. Oh la la!
