Is celery an ingredient normally found in Asian stir fry? or is that an American addition in Chinese fast food? (Panda Express) And if so, or not, do you like/approve of celery in stir fry?

    It's more American.

I don't mind it though. It seems it got subbed in for celery cabbage somewhere along the way.

It's just a substitute for Chinese celery.

Celery is less pungent, but the flavour profile is exactly the same.

Except the picture is Napa Cabbage. Chinese celery is longer, thinner around and more yellowish white.

I said celery cabbage. It's an ingredient term often used in the cuisine in English.

I use it occasionally at home, adds a nice texture element. On the rare occasions I eat at Panda Express I almost always get the black pepper chicken which is pretty heavy on the celery.

Hmm, maybe a monthly challenge theme?
