Can rice makers cook Persian/Indian style fluffy rice

Just acquired a Rinnai gas rice maker hoping to use in a street food business I have. I followed the instructions and did a test run on basmati rice but sadly the rice came out sticky and wet akin to far eastern starchy short grain rice.

Is this exercise doomed to failure because of the way rice makers work?

My understanding is that Persian/Indian/Middle Eastern style rice depends more on the steam not escaping to fluff up the rice while far eastern rice just boil out the water.

    Any help greatly appreciated/
