Brown sugar ham juice leftovers

Joined Dec 26, 2016
I used a slow cooker to bake a ham with brown sugar. It turned out well, but now I'm faced with a dilemma. There is quite a bit of leftover juice, but I don't know what to do with it! Does anyone have any ideas? I would hate to just get rid of it...

Thanks for suggestions!

Create a sauce...

To use with the ham now...

Remove to a pot, add drained stemless maraschino cherries and raisins and reconstituted chopped dried apple.

Bring to simmer then thicken with a cornstarch slurry.

Check for salt before adjusting your seasonings with salt and a tiny bit of cayenne...cinnamon and ground ginger are nice add ins as well.

Or you could freeze the juice for now and then make the above alterations the next time you roast a chicken or pork loin.

Use it to make a bread pudding with cornbread, collard greens, and black-eyed peas. A variation on a traditional New Year's good luck dish.
