I was wonder about brass pipes. The chef is getting new plumbing in her kitchen. What's the big deal about brass pipes? Would'nt they rust quicker then others?

Only iron (and steel) forms rust. Brass is unusual for water supply, it is usually used for larger fittings. Both brass and copper tend to form what they call "protective" coatings when used for water supply. Brass is expensive though. Usually, plastic is used when copper is not.
