Blisters and burns....

    Whats everyones way with dealing with burns and blisters from burns? Best thing to put on it ect. To pop or not to pop?

    I recently seriously burned myself with hot soup trying to puree it with a hand-mixer, not sure if it was the right thing to do, but it worked for me, bacitracin and a ban-aid. I needed to keep it moist because it is on my arm, and I didn't want to scar.

    neosporin or different antibacterial. I burned myself really badly over christmas. I was cooking huge pieces of meat for a roast and a pocket of oil got caught under one so when i went to scoot it over ( hand in latex gloves) the oil splashed out to the underside of my thumb melted it and ran along the einside of the glove around my thumb and over the top of my hand . after a while of nearly a dozen open blisters and lots of ointment i can say im really lucky and you can barely see scars

    If you can get it, Silver Sulfadiazine (aka Silvadine) is amazing burn cream, and I try to keep some at home.  Otherwise, I tend to just use whatever is in the First Aid box at work.  My last burn I got from the edge of a sheet-pan I had just pulled out from the oven.  My Chef-de-Cuisine was behind me so I said, "Watch it, HOT!" as I set it on the counter.  As I turned to grab the next one my wrist brushed the edge and left a two-inch burn mark.  Smart move, lol.  I finished dealing with the bacon on the sheet-pans before tending to my burn since it didn't look or feel bad.  I didn't realize until I got to the First Aid station that it was a second-degree burn.  They have a Silvadine-type cream there in little packets that works nicely, and although it did blister I didn't pop it...just burn cream and a light bandage.  I let it do it's own thing and it popped on its own at home later that night.  It's healing quite nicely, and although it may leave a small scar, I doubt it will be a permanent one.  I've had several similar burns that I treated the same way over the last few years, and so far I've not had a single permanent scar from one.  Also, once it's closed over, aloe or Vitamin E ointment/lotion/cream works nicely to prevent scarring.  I have a very large aloe plant I keep growing for just such occasions.
