Best peppers when making chili oil

I decided this weekend will be mainly consumed with making various infused oils since most of what I have is gone. I've made oils with herbs, fruit, and the like, but never made chili oil. I'm wondering what the best pepper would be when using the hot oil method. Dried or smoked chilis would be interesting; fresh chilis would give it more zing. Any suggestions?

I prefer Poblano Chili Peppers, as I can use the oil in many dishes.
