Has anyone ever tried this?
Not that one, but I have this one: http://www.sideswipeblade.com/
That's pretty cool. Does it beat a beat similarly to the original paddle beater?
i bought one about a year ago for my ancient K-5 it works great. i had to finally break down and replace the peeling original blade and was pleasantly surprised. it works like the original beater but has the benefit of scraping the bowl like a spatula. holding up ok, too.
Does this thing hold up in a professional environment? How about the dishwasher?
Not sure about the "dishwasher", but don't see any reason it would not survive.
Use it all the time at the restaurant, in three years, no sign of wear, that's the SideSwipe, never used the BeaterBlade.
i throw the beaterblade in the upper rack of the dishwasher at home all the time. professional kitchens i'd probably handwash just to be on the safeside.
