We are seeking a Head Chef to join our team! You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicate time to expanding our clientele base to establish the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's brand and reputation. At the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, you will have the unique opportunity of preparing food on our "rolling restaurant" kitchen rail car while preserving the "golden age" of railroad dining. Providing quality service to our guests is of the utmost importance, and must be the underlying objective of any WMSR excursion/event. Successful candidates must be friendly, courteous, enthusiastic, and comfortable interacting with and serving a variety of individuals and groups. Candidates must be able to work within an upscale dining environment. This position averages 25+ hours a week; weekends are required. Candidates must be prepared to work a flexible schedule. Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day culinary operations Coordinate food and kitchenware orders Check freshness and quality of ingredients Assist in the development of menu items Standardize recipes and plate presentations Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests Qualifications: Previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields (culinary degree is preferred) Passion for food and cooking techniques Strong leadership qualities Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of the excursion (2.5-3.5 hours) Must be very detail-oriented and have extremely high standards for food quality and cleanliness Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs Mobility and coordination for bending, reaching, and working quickly within a small area Ability to work efficiently under pressure Excellent communication and team-work skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Pay will be based on experience.
