    Hi Everyone,

I have been thinking about getting one of these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/16733/Automated-Foodsaver

It sounds fantastic and I just wondered if anyone here actually has one (or similar) and how pleased you are with it? I would like it for the following:

Freezing freshly made pasta sauce & soups

    Stopping freezer burn

    Reducing space

    Keeping food fresher for longer

Freezing fresh meat and fish in smaller volumes

Faster marinating when short on time

    Many thanks,

    Goldi

I have a similar unit, it sometimes acts a little strange (takes some doing to get it to recognize I have inserted a bag).  Anyway, if I were to buy another one, I would probably look very closely at a chamber unit, probably the Ary Vacmaster VP210.  The chamber units are far superior for liquid and we items.  With a standard vac, the only way to get a good vacuum on a liquid/wet filled bag is to freeze the item first, and then vac.  Otherwise you end up sucking liquid into the vac and it will prematurely cut out leaving air still in the bag.

Thanks for your reply. I'll google the machine you have suggested.
