Hi.  I have been told that you can't eat Basil leaves because you can choke.  In some recipes it says to remove basil leaves before eating.  I am afraid to use it period.  How can I use the Basil leaves if you can't eat it.  Please help.

Uhm, basil leaves are indeed edible.

If you want to eat them chop them smaller, that or do something amazing we humans call *chew your food* /img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif.

I would imagine the reference was to bay leaves.

If it is Bay leaves, then allow me to re-direct you to this thread....

You can chew them , but i find their objectives for cooking more to the aroma, and the flavor to be subtle.

Not really meant to be edulged unless of course you want to buy fresh and chop them at home over using dried pieces.
