Postcards From the Frontiers of Science is a goofy science-geek blog where Janelle Shane relates the results of her hobby: training neural networks to generate original "ideas" in various subject areas. One ongoing project is teaching the network to generate recipes. A subset of this project is teaching it to create recipes inspired by H.P. Lovecraft.

Lol..so i left tech sector to become a chef and now the nerds of silicon valley trying to eliminate my job?

a good example of why robots cannot successfully eliminate job of a chef.

you should also look into this robot arm they are testing that can assemble meals such as omelette toast, pasta for their owners in a home kitchen....it doesnt address how it will manage inventory, find locations of ingredients etc.

they havent even perfected autonomous cars...replacing work of a chef is years away.

I guess robots are good for some things, like loading pallets with 100 pound bags of flour or checking that the muffin/cookie/english muffin coming down the assembly line is not underdone or burnt.  assembling meals or making mixed drinks has done by robot makers for 15+ years, just don't move the plate or glass from designated area.

For her this is play rather than an effort to train the network to do anything actually useful. She's "taught' it to tell knock-knock jokes, invent fortune cookie fortunes, (one of the funnier experiments) come up movie titles, names for heavy metal bands, and  cars, and to make up and name paint colors, etc. The paint color experiment is the latest and it is also pretty funny:
