We had to have our thanksgiving orders in by yesterday because our purveyors said the stock is gonna be decimated. Anyone else here anything about this?

    That's crazy.

I'm only having issues with liquid egg product right now, which is affecting whole eggs just a little.

    errr... chicken eggs, not turkey.

Just a little???? Shell eggs are up more than  double from this time last year. Millions of chickens have been killed in an attempt to stem the spread of avian flu. Similar thing is now happening with turkey. We make our own sausage patties using turkey tenderloins and prices are now up to almost $5 per pound! Liquid eggs are virtually impossible to get at any price (McDonalds and other huge national accounts are getting the supply.) It's pretty dire if you're in the breakfast business like we are.

A week ago we paid $100 for a case of liquid whites. That's about 300% more than usual, and we were lucky to find it in stock.

My dairy/egg supplier has liquid whites for $114 per case. US Foods doesn't have them at any price.

From what I understand we're buying stored surplus at this point, and next year will be worse because the coffers will be empty.

My boss has been insisting that I chew out my rep because we can't get out nitrate free product anymore and seems t refuse to believe the problem is out of their hands. It has been a major pain. Meanwhile, whole eggs are 42 bucks a case. Anybody heard a recent update on this?
