    Phone rights...

Most businesses that require communication such as that will provide a means to do it, like 2-way radios, phone system or at least company provided cell phones because they know the abuse that takes place when employees are allowed to have their own phones. Most employees also dislike having to...

    Phone rights...

It illustrates that even with the threat of severe fines and points on their license people still cannot keep themselves from using phones while driving. I don't think even the threat of incarceration would be effective. So the point is, do you really think that a chef telling his staff that...

    Phone rights...

Don't get me wrong. Cell phone technology is extremely useful but even more so has become extremely disruptive. I compare cell phone companies to be like drug dealers. Put a phone in the hands of a 4 or 5 year old so they can play games and you have them hooked for life. So pretty much they have...

    Phone rights...

"Not using it recreationally"is never going to happen as long as staff has access to their phones. It's not a technological revolution, it's an addiction. And quite frankly it disgusts me to see people walking around with their cell phone clutched in their hand like they can't live without it...

    Head count dropped over 50%

You have to make a minimum to cover the setup, insurance, transporting of the food, servers and other help plus your profit. When you price an event you need to know the head count before you can give a price per person. So here the caterer was given a head count of 70 and he knows that, for...

    Phone rights...

The issue for me is that cell phones have become an addiction for most people. As soon as they receive a text or call they are psychologically compelled to respond no matter what they are doing. The only way to stop that behavior is to take the phones away from them. It does when the boss is...

    Phone rights...

I find this interesting since most places prohibit cell phone use during working hours which I see that you agree with. So here we have this guy who expects you to monitor your phone for his texts. How about you start carrying it and have your friends text you all day interrupting your work...

    Prevention of hair in food

If there is hair all over the clothing you need to find out where it is coming from and why it's happening. If it's coming from your employees homes, there is no way around having them change into clean uniforms before the start of their shift. If you have employees with gorilla hair on their...

Cancellation of Contract due to Death in family of Client

This makes me wonder if there is insurance that the customer can buy through you that would cover them in the event of such catastrophe. I know it exists for things like summer rentals.

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

After reading all his posts, I'm a little confused here about what the OP intends to do with these decorated tools. If at home for his own use, use them at your own risk. If he is thinking of selling them to home cooks, the legal consequences can be severe. In a commercial setting they will be...

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

Equipment used in food prep for the public is usually NSF certified. Any modification to that equipment, such as you are talking about will void that certification. The health department will make you stop using it. Being contaminated with paint is no different than being dirty. If you can...

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

This whole idea reminds me of when kids put stickers all over their cell phones or computers.

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

Because "nice" is a relative term. It's a matter of perception. What you perceive to be "nice" reflects your level of thinking. For instance, an experienced Chef might walk into a new kitchen and the first thing he is going to notice is things like the type and quality of equipment, the layout...

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

Uniforms and staff attire are chosen by the management to promote a certain image to the customers for the business. Equipment for food prep is chosen for functionality and production, not for some minimum wage worker to stand there and look at and think is cool.

    Hydro dipping kitchen equipment!

If reputable manufacturers decided to do something like that it would be with non-toxic and FDA approved methods. This is a big problem with Chinese goods. I think you may be on to something with "modern consumers" though. Since most don't know anything about cooking, the equipment you...

Best way to move out older table sitters?

Well, if you fill your dining room only once a night and serve only one meal per person something has to be vastly different for you to make a profit off that.

Best way to move out older table sitters?

Well, that's the difference between the US and Europe I guess. I think part of the problem is in America it's harder to turn a profit so you have to turn over those tables.

Best way to move out older table sitters?

It works both ways. There's no excuse for rushing customers through their meals. That would justify a smaller tip for the server IMO. However, customers that finish their meals then take up space for an unreasonable amount of time while they talk, etc. are wrong and inconsiderate.
