It's Gonna Be A Hot One!!

Looks like summer is coming more than a month earlier this year.  I think you and I are in for a long hot scorching summer.  To think we're about 10 degrees hotter here in the Phoenix are than you are in Tucson.  We're due 3 days of over 90 this week then we do the mighty drop 2 days later to...

Hello from the California west coast!

Welcome Musik, I think you'll find the knowledge here to be great as well as finding helpful folks that feel as you and I do about being in the kitchen.  There's a ton of information to be had here. And Nicko that's unfair about the food network.  If it hadn't been for Emeril I would never have...

    recipe for a pineapple drink

Well I have been known to drink a cocktail or 10 depending on the party!  Oh and also depending on whether I have to drive or not.  My days of stupidity are thankfully behind me.  I finally grew up and realized how damn stupid I was being.

    Maid Rite Recipe

I've lived in Arizona for a touch over 50 years so I've never even heard of a Maid-Rite, but I'm sure gonna try one of these recipes to see what I've been missing!

    Beef jerky seasoning question

No don't add soy to the kit that you're looking at.  I marinate my Jerky with Soy only.

    Beef jerky seasoning question

I stand corrected.  I found the product instructions and they are indeed dry rub seasonings.

    Beef jerky seasoning question

The product that you are looking at seems to be a powder that you'll be adding water to, to marinade your Beef.  Seasoning after drying doesn't accomplish much as the seasoning isn't apt to stick to the dried jerky.  I happen to personally just marinade my Jerky in soy sauce and dry it out.

    Mexican Cooking Top 5 Books

Bobby Flay is well known for Southwestern Cuisine as opposed to just TexMex.  A large portion of his recipes are derived from New Mexico as opposed to Texas, with a portion of what we here in Arizona call Mexican food.  We're even subjected to Mexican-American food here every bit as much as true...

What's a good authentic Cajun cookbook??

Nevermind about Cooking up a Storm.  It's written by Marcelle Bienvenu, with input by Emeril Lagasse and edited by Marcelle and Judy Walker.  If I'm not mistaken it's primarily Creole cooking rather than Cajun.  Oh and I found it on Amazon.com.

What's a good authentic Cajun cookbook??

Who wrote it?  I've never seen the book but I'd be interested in taking a gander at it!  BTW  If you don't want to buy Prudommes seasoning substitute Emeril's Essence for it.  Works pretty damn fine I guarantee!

Your favourite food/dish that you can't prepare yourself.

You're really something!  LOL I truly hope I get to meet you and your husband face to face sometime.  After all you're only 100 miles from where I am!  :)

    Hawaiian Cuisine

Don't I know it.  I have a very good view of the Western Face of the Superstition Mountains from my front porch.  That view goes real well with a cold beer after a day of riding.

    Hawaiian Cuisine

I can see why you might be so homesick now that you're living in Tucson.  What a beautiful view!  A comfortable chair and a glass of good wine and I could live with that myself!  :)
