The holidays are just around the corner and with the holidays usually comes lots of socializing. Maybe you are will be heading out to a party or 2 or, just as likely, you will be hosting a party, or get together, or maybe just having some family over, either for an evening of eating and drinking, or for an extended period. No matter what the occasion, you will probably be offering up a few drinks.
Of course, you can always stick with the classics. There is nothing wrong with Rum and Cokes, Gin and Tonics, Whiskey and Gingers, etc. but sometimes you just want to be a little more festive. Below is a few recipes for some fun, party cocktails. Some can be made up in advance, allowing guests to help themselves, while others will give you a chance to play bartender for a time.
The Captain’s Christmas Cocktail
Domaine de Canton is a ginger liquer that can be found in most better stocked liquor stores. It’s a little on the expensive side but a bottle goes a long way and is a great way to give a holiday twist to many cocktails.
1 oz. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
1 oz. Domaine de Canton
4 oz. Cranberry Juice
Fill a shaker with ice, add ingredients and give a brief stir. Strain into a martini glass and serve immediately. Alternatively, you can pour all ingredients over ice and serve in a highball glass, on the rocks.
The Mexican Mocha Cocktail
For those that like White Russians, this creamy drink packs a good punch along with the flavors of coffee, cinnamon and chocolate.
2 oz. Kalhua
2 oz. Rumchata
2 tsp. Chocolate Syrup
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the ingredients. Give a good shake and strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon or cocoa powder.
The Drunken Elf
1oz. Domaine de Canton
1 oz. Pineapple juice
Fill a pilsner glass, or other tall glass, with ice. Add the Midori, Domaine de Canton, and pineapple juice. Give a good stir and top with lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a couple of cherries.

3 oz. Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz. Cointreau
In a Champagne flute, or white wine glass, mix the cranberry juice and Cointreau. Fill with Champagne and serve.
