Moussaka: In Nafplion, in southern Peloponnese, Greece, a classic moussaka is the key fare.

This aubergine and lamb casserole has been popular the world over as one of Greek´s national dishes. Often called the Greek lasagna, the traditional ingredients include: bechamel, nutmeg, currants, tomato, red wine, cayenne, onion, olive oil, ground lamb or ground beef and eggplant 

which is called aubergine in French and British English.
